As a Virtual Application Packaging Specialist, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining virtual application packages, deploying software efficiently across our organization's infrastructure, and ensuring seamless software delivery to end-users. Your expertise in Azure AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop), packaging technologies, SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), and GPO (Group Policy Object) administration will be crucial in ensuring our software distribution processes are streamlined and reliable. Key Responsibilities: Virtual Application Packaging: Create, customize, and maintain virtual application packages using industry-standard packaging tools (e.g., Microsoft App-V, VMware ThinApp, Citrix App Layering). Ensure virtual applications are packaged in a consistent and optimized manner to minimize conflicts and compatibility issues. Collaborate with application owners and stakeholders to gather requirements and assess packaging needs. Azure AVD Integration: Integrate virtual application packages seamlessly into the Azure Virtual Desktop environment. Troubleshoot and resolve any application compatibility issues within the Azure AVD ecosystem. Work closely with the infrastructure team to ensure optimal performance and user experience. SCCM Deployment and Management: Utilize SCCM to deploy software packages to desktops and servers across the organization. Maintain a comprehensive software library in SCCM, ensuring accurate versioning and documentation. Monitor deployment progress and address any issues that arise during the deployment process. Group Policy Object (GPO) Administration: Configure and manage GPO settings related to software deployment, user access, and security. Collaborate with the security team to ensure GPO policies align with cybersecurity best practices. Troubleshoot GPO-related issues and provide timely resolutions. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of virtual application packaging processes, SCCM configurations, and GPO settings. Generate regular reports on software deployment metrics, compliance, and performance for management review. Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT support, infrastructure, and application owners to address technical challenges and optimize software delivery processes. Provide second-level support for software deployment issues escalated from the help desk. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in virtual application packaging using tools like Microsoft App-V, VMware ThinApp, or Citrix App Layering. Strong proficiency in Azure AVD integration and management. Proficiency in SCCM administration and software deployment. Sound knowledge of Group Policy Object (GPO) administration and its role in software distribution. Familiarity with application compatibility testing and troubleshooting. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Problem-solving aptitude and strong attention to detail. Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: SCCM, or equivalent, are a plus.
