Job Role: Lead Software Engineer (React) Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid) Type : C2C ONLY (US Citizen OR Green Crad ) Summary: As a Lead Software Engineer on the Global Technology Developer Experience and Platforms team, you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, engineers and delivery professionals to develop reference applications for commonly used patterns within Prudential. We are involved in collaborating with various teams within Prudential and responsible to bring in standardization and innovation. You will code, test and debug new and existing applications as you implement capabilities to tackle sophisticated business problems, deploy innovative products, services, and experiences to delight our customers! In addition to advanced technical expertise and experience, you will bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, along with agile ways of working, strong business insight, an inclusive leadership demeanor and a continuous learning focus to all that you do. Responsibilities: Design, code, debug and automate applications. Setup opensource Backstage Developer Experience Platform on AWS Develop plugins and templates using typescripts. Manage and maintain Backstage platform. Drive adoption by participating in COPs, driving lunch and learn and become developer advocate. Drive working sessions to teach Plugin and Template development. Onboard Team to host their documentation, toots stack, Templates and Plugin Build platforms/tools/frameworks/starter kits ensuring that the code follows latest coding practices and industry standards, using modern design patterns and architectural principles; remove technical impediments. Develop high quality, detailed, and efficient code adhering to all applicable standards. Collaborate with product owners in understanding needs and defining feature stories, tech leads in defining technical design and other team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact. Unit test, integration tests and functional automation, researching problems discovered by quality assurance or product support, developing solutions to address the problems. Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Support product owner and tech lead in defining future stories and technical designs. Skills & Expertise Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields Ability to mentor others with minimal guidance and optimally leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization. Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD) Knowledge of business concepts tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business. Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenge. Writes technical posts that at once answer common questions/address technical concerns that might inhibit developers from working with our products. Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills. Vocal champion for a technical community's interests within the company. Has a keen eye to the landscape and context of our users. Advocate for our technologies along many axis: open source, conferences, technical posts, demos, and social media. Defines and executes on an advocacy plan for specific interest/skill area to grow adoption of our platform. Actively participates in Engineering efforts that help streamline the Developer Experience of our Product. Advanced experience: Developing end to end web, mobile applications, Frameworks, toolkits, and SDK development. Agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD) Backstage or any other Internal Developer Portal experience Solid understanding of MVC design pattern, dependency injection Proven experience with ReactJS, React Native, JavaScript, ES5/ES6, Responsive UI, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Material UI, Bootstrap, EJS template, Redis, Jasmine, Karma, JSON, REST, TypeScript, ES6, NPM, Bower, Gulp, Grunt, Webpack Automation testing Accessibility Backend technologies including Spring Boot, Java, Groovy, Maven, Mongo DB, Dynamo DB, Lambda, SQS, Kinesis, Node JS, Docker, Kubernetes Monitoring and logging techniques and tools such as CloudWatch, Nagios, Splunk and Dynatrace etc. Software security skills including secure coding, web application security and DevSecOps; Solid grasp of security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature, JWT), SSL, web service proxies, firewall, SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0) Dev Ops Tools & Practices: Branching techniques and usage of GitHub, Bitbucket or Subversion; DevOps, Jenkins, Code Pipeline, Code Commit, Code Build, Code Deploy etc Preferred Qualifications: AWS Cloud Certified Knowledge on Service Mesh technologies Experience working in a continuous integration environment especially in microservices, web and Mobile. Solid understanding of configuration management software such as Power , Tera form, Ansible, Continuous integration tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins Developing complete solutions considering sizing, infrastructure, data protection, disaster recovery, security, application requirements on cloud enterprise systems Experience adhering to an Agile development environment and iterative sprint cycle.
