COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION IS BELOW FOR YOUR REVIEW: Let me know your thoughts: Position: Cloud Database admin Location: RTP , North Carolina \\ San Jose , California (on-site) Skillset: Cloud Database admin( AWS Aurora, AWS RDS, AWS Redshift, AWS Dynamos DB) \\AWS\\Terraform JD: Maintain a standard, reusable and effective Database Operations which include but are not limited to Discovery, Analysis, Review of misconfiguration/ performance / scalability issues, and Development of fixes, Recommending Solutions and Best-Practices, Acceleration of feedback and solution delivery through analysis, identification, addressing systemic root cause(s) to avoid or eliminate anti-patterns or other code-smells Key Deliverables-Cloud Ops Database Administration Disaster recovery: Ensure that geo-replicated backups and geo [1] redundant database system clusters are set up and configured as needed. Recover the database cluster in an unlikely event while ensuring SLAs are met Backup, recovery, and validation: Shared responsibility in the cloud. The vendor will handle configuration and execution tasks, while the DBA is responsible for adjusting the backup routines and schedule to meet application needs and validation Monitoring enabling monitoring of critical DB indicators such as CPU and memory utilization, disk I/O, Long run SQLs, DB Health, Database events, Deadlocks etc. Make use of Performance Insights, Enhanced Monitoring, Cloud Watch to get insights on the DB activity. Act when these events occur Performance Tuning: Tune DB engine parameters to meet Application Use Case and yield maximum performance. Fine tuning DB schema and queries to minimize query time. Table defragmentation, re-indexing and modifying database structure, etc Prod Data Fix: Fixing inconsistency in Production databases causing application outage/performance degradation. Database Availability: Ensuring cluster is set for automatic failover and can handle an AZ failure. System patching and maintenance: Regular maintenance as needed for critical security and system availability updates as planned on or before the deadline date of Releases. System provisioning: Provisioning database system and allocate compute, memory, and storage resources to workloads. Capacity planning: Continuous collaboration with application development and end-users to forecast system usage and resource requirements. Adjust the cloud service tiers to accommodate required capacity growth. Debugging: Collaborates with application development to identify/reproduce and remediate issues in lower environments, and then promote to production. Automation: Working with infrastructure-as-code; Terraform and/or CloudFormation as applicable to the application. Recommendations: DBA recommends areas where applications can improve their implementations to avoid or eliminate anti-patterns, which are the root cause of systemic/underlying issues.
