Job Description: Job Title: Cloud Solutions Engineer/Architect Job Order ID: JO000188903 Onsite Requirement/Remote (Time zone): Chicago preferred 1 day on site (team goes in on Tuesdays) C/CTH/Perm + Duration: 6-month contract that will extend ISS Friendly (Y/N): Yes VSD Friendly (Y/N): Yes would prefer someone to convert but flexible for right talent Interview Process: Video with Andy; Tech screen with leads Target Start Date: ASAP Competition: Ahead + Sayers QC NOTES Background Small Cloud Engineering team supporting 400+ workloads that run in AWS across the organization Sits between Core Cloud and Platform representatives across entire application ecosystem Examples of solutions team provideso When teams look to bring in a third party tool (e.g., new API management tool, new DBs) this team advises on strategy and alternative options (e.g., AWS tool vs. GCP tool) Advise on ideal cloud toolset and design. Everyone on the team strikes a balance between ability to be hands on keys and advisory/design strategy Principal architect went on leave. This is a replacement for that individual. Lots of work and future initiatives in 2024 and beyond. Long term engagement. Strong potential to convert to FTE if this individual is interested in doing so. Profile notes: Seasoned cloud infrastructure professional with expertise in AWS Experience in large enterprise, multi-cloud organizations Ability strike a balance between hands-on tasks and high-level architectural work. Ability to craft cloud architecture strategies is essential Comfortable with coding for cloud-related tasks (Python, API Design/Management) Knowledge Required: Proficient with Infrastructure Engineering Architecture like VNets, Firewalls, NATs, ACLs, Security Groups and Routing etc. Proficient with one or more cloud providers: AWS required. GCP ideal, but IBM/Azure also suffice. Proficient in one or more containers like Docker or ContainerD Proficient in one or more container orchestration engines like Kubernetes( EKS or AKS ) and Docker swarm. Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, CaaS and IaaS. Understands Technology systems & application Preferred: Knowledge of Software Development Languages & Tools, Python, C#, Asp.net/MVC, MS Visual Studio, MS TFS & Git Knowledge with API Design & API Management Understanding on API Management and API Gateways Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code ( IAC ) Knowledge in one or more deployment methods like CloudFormation, ARM, Bicep, Github Action, Harness & Terraform. Knowledge of security controls and enforcement like Config, GuardDuty, Trusted Advisor, Control Tower, Application Change Analysis, Lighthouse Skills/Abilities: Business Acumen Creativity & Innovation Persuasion "Big Picture" Thinker Strategic Effective Communication (verbal + written) in email or presentation related sitiuations. Exceptional at coding and on time delivery of quality components and or applications Working problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires review of a variety of factors Triage or analysis of situations for production support Excel with on time delivery with minimal supervision Preferred Certifications: Multi-cloud certification very nice to have AWS or other cloud certifications Education: BS/BA, preferably in a technical , computer science or scientific field or equivalent experience, education or training Experience Required: 5 or more years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture Experience with one or more cloud platforms required like AWS and Azure.
