Network Engineer Long term contract through 12/2026! USC or GC Hybrid in Annapolis, MD pls dont submit anyone from Virginia or Washington, DC LOCATION DETAILS: must be able to go onsite in Annapolis / Hybrid (Onsite & Remote) 2-3 days a week The Comptrollers IT department is located in downtown Annapolis MD. During the transition period, the new engineer will need to go into the office for knowledge transfer sessions. After the current engineer retires, this position will transition to a hybrid in-office as needed / remote position. ABOUT THE ROLE: Seniority Level/Target years of experience: BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field plus 3 7 years experience as a Network Engineer Top 3-5 Technical Skills: Industry-related experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Network Administrator Professional certification preferred In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols Familiarity with access control models and network security Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g. Python, Perl) Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools) Project Scope/Details/Responsibilities: Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers Be proficient in all manner of Cisco/Meraki infrastructure technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls, WAPs, network management and monitoring devices, security software, hardware, and appliances Be proficient in F5 load balancing solutions. Heavy reliance upon remote connectivity including VPN and wide area circuits Well versed in network topology and in strategic planning for networking across the entire agency Mentor team members on technical issues Create, oversee and test security measures Maintain complete technical documentation Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability Timeline to start/fill: ASAP - The person currently in this role is retiring in December so the customer has asked us to provide a new Sr. Network Engineer ASAP so they can do knowledge transfer.
