Purpose of Position/Summary: This is a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension. Must have clear and proficient written and verbal communication skills. We have need of senior Linux System Administration support, with skills in the following areas: RedHat/CentOS & Ubuntu system administration Major and minor OS upgrade Scripting languages, including bash and Python Ansible automation Git repository management VMware/deployment methods Physical server maintenance, include iDRAC Implementing system security best practices Authentication protocols/methods including KRB, SSSD, A/D, LDAP Proficient written and verbal communication On specified RedHat/CentOS and Ubuntu servers and desktops: plan, execute document and share methods Contractor Tasks i. Individual Systems Update (100+ Systems) 1. Security a. Uninstall FireEye HX agent b. Install/configure M.S. Defender c. Review/implement 3rd party recommendations. 2. Scheduled jobs analysis 3. Validate/analyze boot files (inittab, systemd, rc.x) 4. Compare /home to passwd file 5. Review/convert chronyd configurations ii. Migrate Ubuntu Desktops to current version (10 Systems) iii. Upgrade/migrate Linux servers to latest OS (10 Systems) iv. Ansible bash-to-yaml conversion v. Review/Improve logging (syslog-ng) vi. Review A/D integration (Kerberos with SSSD; LDAPS; OUs) vii.
