Should have been a developer or software engineer prior to doing Devops. This candidate started their career on the System-side (Ops-side) of DevOps, as a Linux Admin. They did not start on the structured Programmer OOP or Software Engineer (Dev-side) of DevOps. The client has seen a lot of resumes like this, and nobody has the OOP structured software development experience including frameworks and design patterns experience gotten from working in a traditional OOP environment. Those developers have to take things from requirements to code. Requirement We are seeking a traditional C++,Java or .NET developer with structured OOP (Structured programming) and Framework experience who has moved into the Ops-side of DevOps (i.e. automation, packaging & deploying). Job Description We are currently seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with traditional structured OOP development background like C++, Java or C#, including associated Framework development experience. This role will be supporting the Big Data and Advanced Analytics department at our client onsite in downtown Houston TX. Work directly with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to understand the business objective and develop high quality, scalable, data & machine learning systems Design and implement frameworks and tools to streamline product development process Develop and maintain application environment automation tools Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines Design and implement source code management practices including branching strategies and code quality Perform application deployments acting as a gatekeeper to the production environment Work with platform management team and engineers to build out and support observability, monitoring and governance solutions & utilization Develop, Discuss & Follow software and solution design documentation Qualifications: REQUIRED: 5+ years of OOP-based software engineering experience in C++, Java ,C#, or .NET Building Framework experience Hands-on design patterns experience Python scripting experience including Testing , packaging, and deploying applications CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and GitLab Creating and managing Kubernetes deployments both manually and using Helm Experience in creating and managing fully remote development environments within Kubernetes across many clusters and environments Package and deployment management tools background (e.g. pip, conda, maven, npm, Docker, and helm) Any deployment strategies experience including Rolling, Blue- Green, Canary, and A/B Testing is a plus, but not required. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform is a plus, but not required.
