The team aspires to become a center of excellence for shared persistent data store technologies. As a Database Engineer you will be working on a global scope of databases servicing the breadth of services and games at Riot. You will be designing and administering solutions to help teams implement database standards you have established to make service databases easier to operate and maintain. Youll be partnering and coordinating with engineers across Riot and ironing out overlooked details that matter most to our players. Duties: 4+ years database administration experience working with large (and small) scale Relational MySQL databases 4+ years database administration experience working with cloud based and locally deployed MySQL technologies Experience with full database development life cycle Proven ability to administrate, maintain, and recover MySQL databases Proven ability to design and implement automated data migrations using replication, code and business logic between data systems Proven ability to work with development teams and service code on schema, query and database design Ability to optimize Database and SQL Query performance Ability to solve problems with programming scripts (python, bash etc) Ability to implement solutions through automation Proven experience using monitoring and alerting tools to determine health of your database ecosystem. Associates/Bachelors Degree Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience. Ability to go on call every 4 weeks. Required Skills: Hands on experience with AWS RDS or Aurora Familiarity with NoSQL technologies Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and microservice application development Linux systems administration skills (operate the database and the infrastructure) Experience programming in GoLang, Python and/or Java Ability to speak Korean and English conversationally MSP Comments: Core Business Hours 9:30a-3p Pacific are a must. There will be 2 interviews. // Candidates must have a STRONG DBA or DBE background: not just data in their previous job title but database. Looking for a team player with a good attitude that can work autonomously, and knows when to come to the team with a problem. Additionally, a software background would be helpful, there is a fair amount of scripting and automation. The team is 6-7 engineers manages Thousands of databases and is distributed around the globe: this role will manage emergent load, help customers troubleshoot, and if successful in learning Riots techstack, help with DB updates and migration. This worker might help the on call roation: primary one week, secondary the next week, then 4-5 weeks off. // Manager is looking for 100% match to the Required Qualifications, focused on: Bash, Python, Golang, Aurora, Terraform, RDS, AWS, My SQL (updates going from 5.7 to 8), automation for many databases.
