The Data Center Network Design SME should have experience in the following areas: Data Center Network architectural design and implementation for large-scale enterprise environment Troubleshooting Network connectivity issues Managing Large Scale Cisco Routers and Switches Configuring and working with ISE, QOS, BGP, NTP and TACACS Performing equipment upgrades Developing standards and procedures Strong background in technical team leadership Ability to execute and determine feasibility of planned schedule A current Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCCIE) in Routing and Switching certification is required BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED: We are seeking a Data Center Network Design Subject Matter Expert (SME) who can design, implement, maintain, and resolve issues with the States data network. The candidate must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures specifically related to network design. The candidate must be able to independently perform a wide variety of complicated tasks. A degree of creativity and latitude is required. Experience leading teams through large implementations is required. Work is performed in a Hybrid schedule with 2-days per week in-office and 3-days per week remote. This service engagement may be extended, as required by the SOM. PROJECT OBJECTIVE: The objective of this project is to obtain a resource with the experience, knowledge and skill sets needed to provide architectural design of the States Data Center Network infrastructure. SCOPE OF WORK: This position is responsible for architectural design, optimization and quality assurance for implementation and management of the Data Center network infrastructure. This position is also responsible to provide escalation points for experienced and senior level staff and acts as the single point of contact for all escalations and troubleshooting. This position will develop standards and procedures to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives and security requirements. This infrastructure interfaces with the Network Core, Hosting environments, Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) systems involving thousands of devices. This position requires an extremely high degree of technical skill, initiative, and creativity and must keep current with new and emerging theories, regulations, standards, technologies, and practices in tools, software, networking, operating systems, and hardware in order to provide for the needs of the State. The ability to foresee the impact of updates or configuration changes to BGP, NTP and of Cisco Nexus/IOS devices on the Data Center Network is of paramount importance. Responsibilities also include end-to-end facilitation, validation, and the roll out of new technologies, such as ISE, DNAC and NDFC/NDI for Data Center networks. This position also involves mentoring, coaching, coordinating, and consulting with fellow systems administrators and architects within the Enterprise Architecture, Michigan Cyber Security, and other teams that interface with the enterprise networking environments. TASKS/DUTIES: Tasks/duties include, but not limited to: Research and design emerging technology strategies and provide technical, architectural and administrative oversight of the Data Center network design and implementation for state applications, staff, and constituents. Create and maintain the overall strategic and technical direction for the design, providing vision and guiding principles for the strategy and architecture of enterprise solutions, as well as consultation to project teams in the implementation and integration of network solutions. Design Data Center network architectures to achieve the business, functional, and performance requirements while adhering to architecture principles, standards, regulations, software development & project management methodologies and best practices. Consult with Customer Services application teams and business areas to assure a chosen technology meets system and application requirements as well as relevant existing licensing agreements and standards. Provide strategic and architectural support for the Data Center network infrastructure as a Subject Matter Expert. Data Center network SME will perform network performance and capacity planning tasks. Hybrid schedule with 2-days per week in-office and 3-days per week remote.
