We are currently seeking a SQL Server DBA for a contract to hire position. The Database Administrator designs, installs, monitors, maintains, and performance tunes production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Define, develop, and implement database instances, including the appropriate security, back-up and recovery solutions, in a variety of hosting environments (colo/hybrid, managed, Azure/AWS) that meet established project or operational requirements.

Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones.

Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.

Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.

Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.

Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems.

Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems as needed

Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.

Create, or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.

Perform database transaction and security audits.

Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.

Develop routines for end users to facilitate best practices database use.

Establish and setup Disaster Recovery (DR) platform (hot / cold).

Influence Data Architecture.

Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Bachelors Degree in IT/Computer related discipline, or equivalent experience

6+ years of SQL Server Experience (2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2014, 2016) and working knowledge of SQL Server 2017, 2019 and Oracle database environments

2 years of experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server, Oracle

2+ years of ETL Experience

1+ years of Data Architecture Experience

Experience with SOX compliance and security requirements

Work Requirements

Ability to travel up to 25% as required by the business

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

Advanced knowledge of SQL databases and queries.

Advanced knowledge of CDC (Change Data Capture) & CT (Change Tracking) inner workings.

Experience in implementing and supporting several different Integration (ETL or service based) solutions

Experience in working with many different data sets, large and small.

Experience with normalizing and de-normalizing data.

Experience in setting up Disaster Recovery (DR) platform (hot / cold).

Experience with Data Architecture.

Knowledge of ETL best practices and standards.

Strong technical documentation skills.

Good interpersonal skills.

Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products as required.

Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

Keen attention to detail.

Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
