Sr. SQL Report Writer/Python Developer 100 % Remote Job Summary We are actively seeking a developer with experience in SQL query writing and Python development to assist in a mass migration of queries from Oracle SQL to PostgreSQL and to update and maintain existing Python applications and develop new Python programs and scripts as needed. Additionally, the position will be responsible for writing complex SQL queries for business users and to support a large-scale test automation effort. Key Responsibilities 1. Converting Oracle SQL queries to PostgreSQL. 2. Designing and writing complex SQL queries in both Oracle and PostgreSQL. 3. Updating and maintaining existing Python applications. 4. Developing or rewriting existing Python applications and scripts to support new business initiatives or the automation of existing manual processes. 5. Working with test automation engineers to provide queries, development support, and requirements as needed. 6. Writing and testing code, debugging programs, and integrating applications with third-party web services. 7. Writing effective, scalable code in Python. 8. Establishing and documenting best practices, operational procedures, and guidelines for Python applications. 9. Providing training and guidance to IT staff and end-users as needed. Qualifications Desired - Power BI is a plus. Desired - Experience with Selenium. Desired - Experience in TOAD. Desired - Knowledge of AWS platform. Desired - Experience with automated testing. Required - Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in designing and writing complex SQL queries. Required - Solid understanding of database management. Required - Proficient in efficient SQL query writing and design in both Oracle and PostgreSQL. Required - Strong understanding of database design methods and data migration techniques. Required - Proficient in stored procedure writing, query optimization, and indexes. Required - Experience writing optimized SQL queries for integration with other applications. Required - Hands-on programming experience. Required - Expertise in at least one popular Python framework such as Django or Flask. Required - Familiarity with front-end technologies.In addition to technical duties described above the candidate must also be able to: Be proficient in effective problem solving and multitasking. Communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal communications. Demonstrate ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames under deadlines. Develop and maintain documentation. Work with a supervisor on establishing best practices. Pay strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Work in a team environment. Working Conditions: renewal. A standard 40-hour work week. Some weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call, and overtime may be required. The office is in downtown Harrisburg PA Work is normally performed in a telework environment with an in-office requirement of 1 day per quarter. If the ideal candidate is in a location that would require extensive travel to be able to meet the quarterly in-office requirement, this requirement can be waived.
