We are currently looking for Kafka Engineer Remote. Please see the job description below for your reference Position : Kafka Engineer Duration : 6 Months Location expectations: - Remote, prefer CST time zone but open for the right candidate. Time frame - 1 year assignment Team: - New team, 2 home office and 1 offshore engineer. Also, will work with vendor consultant and architect. - Will grow to 6-8 engineers over time - Central time zone is preferred but open to other time zones for the right candidate. Projects - applications need to be delivered to customers in March 2024. - has been involved from a mainframe standpoint. - Hosting through a vendor, who is responsible for architecture. This person will work on the tasks/events that flow through Kafka and work closely with Vendor partners/consultants. - Tasked with queues and subscribers to support configuration. Using existing on prem infrastructure via APIs for configuration. GitHub is the main repository, and some integration may be required with Service Now. - Using Ansible, but open to terraform background - Currently have access to consultants and architects for questions regarding implementing solutions. Challenges - Timeline: deadline in March 2024. Infrastructure is already in place and getting this person up to speed on what is they are trying to design. - Learning the standard "Principal Way" of doing things Top 3 Skills - Designed/Configured/Deployed Kafka or Kafka Confluence and understand events flowing through Kafka. (can have been deployed through AWS or other environments) - AWS knowledge skills - Ansible or Terraform automation development skills Notes from HM: Technologies: - Confluent Kafka Tools: - JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow Methodology: - Agile Automation: - Ansible, Terraform, AWS CDK Scripting: - Python, scripting Cloud: - AWS Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and maintain Confluent Kafka infrastructure, including clusters and topics. Configure and fine-tune Kafka brokers, producers, and consumers for optimal performance. Monitor and troubleshoot Kafka cluster issues, system alerts, and event-driven workflows. Collaborate with development teams to establish best practices for Kafka development and integration. Optimize Kafka cluster security, including access controls, authentication, and encryption. Install and configure Kafka connectors and other ecosystem tools. Automate routine administration tasks using scripting and automation tools. Develop self-serve solutions for developers using Terraform and AWS CDK. Stay up to date with the latest Kafka releases, patches, and security vulnerabilities. Develop and maintain documentation related to Kafka infrastructure, configurations, and processes. Conduct performance analysis and optimization of Kafka workloads and data pipelines. Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams for Kafka-related projects. Collaborate with vendor support teams to resolve complex Kafka-related issues. Ensure compliance with security and data governance policies for Kafka deployments.
