Role:- DB2 Mainframe DBA Location: Remote Duration : Contract Job Description: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required Several years experience in a senior DBA role supporting DB2 (version 9 or higher) production systems in a 24x7 business environment IBM Certification is a plus Open position for an experienced DB2 z/OS DBA using DB2 Version 11 or 12 in a sysplex datasharing environment. Rotating 24x7 oncall support will be required. TECHNICAL: Expert knowledge of DB2 version 11/12 on the z/OS platform Ability to work within a team environment and communicate effectively with others Represent the database team in application development projects with business analysts Promote DB2 best practices and new features to developers during application design and implementation Ability to mentor others, including junior DBAs and application developers, as well as clearly explain complex technical issues to business analysts and end users Proficiency with logical and physical data modeling design concepts Solid performance tuning experience in assisting developers with SQL queries, indexing, stored procedures, triggers and resolving concurrency issues Experience with table partitioning and maintaining very large databases Creation and maintenance of database objects (tables, columns, indexes, etc) Implement best practices for database backup and recovery strategies Experience in setting and scheduling of database maintenance utilities, with different restrictive levels tailored to application usage with the organization.
